Introduction & Invitation
This isn’t exactly an About page. It’s about travel, and adventure, and different ways to live your life. And an invitation.
This whole site is really my friend Agate’s fault. She went to New Zealand to work on her graduate studies, fell in love with a very nice man, and invited us to come to the wedding.
As luck and timing would have it, her wedding was going to be just after ours. And a trip to New Zealand sounded like a pretty fabulous honeymoon.
And it was. But this isn’t about the New Zealand trip, that’s a different set of stories.
Sean and I love traveling. Love having adventures, doing new things, seeing new places. Or just getting in the car and heading for a drive through the crazy changing landscape of Northern New Mexico. On one of our first dates we saw Up! at the local drive-in, and “Adventure is out there!” gets said a lot in our house.
While we were in New Zealand, we had adventures every day. And we wanted to find a way to make sure that we had more adventures when we came home.
We signed up for an online travel writing course. Made sense at the time. It would get us used to writing more, and make us get out and have more adventures.
At least, that was the plan.
In reality, we both have pretty busy jobs, and we volunteer with a local animal rescue. There’s not a lot of time for extra adventures, and within a month, the travel writing course became just another chore, and then it dropped off the radar all together.
So what does all of this have to do with anything? Months later, we realized we had been right, but didn’t have the right perspective.
Every day we have adventures. And if we don’t take notice of them, don’t write them down, don’t take pictures, it all gets wrapped up in the haze of everyday life.
We’re in our forties, both work full time, have two cats and two dogs and live in a small town in northern New Mexico. We’re not going to be able to have big travel trips all the time.
But we have a pretty fabulous life all the same.
We love going new places, seeing new things. But even our town is filled with interesting places and people. And we love creating – Sean’s a photographer, and Corie writes young adult fiction, and we play music from time to time. And life itself is pretty good.
I’d bet your life is pretty good too.
So, this is where we’re going to post our adventures, even if they happen no further away than the kitchen.
And if you’d like, let us know about your adventures. We’d love to hear from you.
